Sustainable fashion is need of the hour: Maneka Gandhi

She was addressing 'India towards Sustainable Fashion 2020'.

Advocating ‘sustainable fashion’, Union Minister for Women and Child Development Maneka Gandhi said, “it’s time we stopped killing and created a fashion industry that seeks from nature”.

She was addressing an event in Gurgaon’s Institute of Apparel Management that organised a event called ‘India towards Sustainable Fashion 2020’. “Khadi products need to adopt new technology and come out with trendy designs. Similarly, the fashion industry has to look at how to use cotton, BT cotton and fibres that can be easily derived from nature,” Gandhi said.
