Whats it about? Lost, about a group of plane crash survivors on a mysterious island, has had a huge global following since it premiered in 2004. The series deals with two groups of people the survivors of Oceanic flight 815,which was on its way from Sydney to Los Angeles and a group referred to as The Others by the survivors. The third season finale introduced a third group of people purported rescuers of the crash survivors who are revealed to be not quite what they claim. As the fourth season begins, this groups purpose on the island becomes clearer. Theyve been sent by a millionaire Charles Widmore for reasons which are still left unsaid. What his connection to the island is and why he wants to find it form the greater part of the mystery during the season. The main struggle now is between Widmore and Benjamin Linus, leader of The Others, who doesnt want the island to fall into the hands of the former. In a strange twist,Linus manages to get some of the survivors on his side, even as the rest continue to mistrust him.
Whos in it? One of the shows strong points has been its spot-on casting. That continues into the fourth season. Most of the original cast Matthew Fox,Naveen Andrews,Evangeline Lilly and Terry OQuinn continues to be in focus. The new entrants, especially Jeremy Davies as the socially awkward physicist Daniel Faraday and Ken Leung as Miles Straume the arrogant medium, just segue into the show like theyd always been part of it. Some old cast members play a return date Harold Perrineau who played the traitor Michael Dawson, returns to repent for his betrayal by trying to rescue the other survivors.
Whats hot? The viewer finds out a large part of what makes the island so strange it can move back on forth on the space/time axis. Also, the flash-forwards now becomes a regular feature and reveal that even when six of the characters Jack Shepard,Kate Austen,Frank Lapidus,Hugo Reyes,Sun Kwon and Sayyid Jarrah escape the island, its not the end for them The island,as Linus points out,is not done with them. The action is still fast-paced and the script is tight. The show doesnt waste time and even as one mystery is solved,a new one takes its place. So while we find out how the Dharma initiative got wiped out of the island, were faced with a new problem – why do the rescued Oceanic Six have to go back to the island?

Whats not? Some puzzles are left untouched in this season such as what happened to Michaels son Walt and his mysterious powers. Also, with so many problems piling on thickly,it gets a little difficult to keep track of all the characters and so some, like new mom Claire Littleton, get short shrift.
Should you be watching it? Definitely, but if you havent been following the series,we suggest you get hold of the first three seasons and catch up with those first.
