Stalker stabs woman to death, kills himself, say Delhi police

The incident was reported in southwest Delhi’s Inderpuri Sunday.

A 32-year-old woman was stabbed to death by a man who had allegedly been stalking her, following which he stabbed himself, said police.

The incident was reported in southwest Delhi’s Inderpuri Sunday. The accused died in hospital Monday morning.

According to police, the accused, Sanjay, stabbed the woman, Lakshmi, more than 10 times before stabbing himself. The incident took place when the woman was returning home after work at about 8 pm Sunday. Sanjay, blocked her way and tried to talk to her. Her husband, Rajkumar, said, “When she refused to talk, he whipped out a knife and stabbed her several times in the stomach.” Police said after stabbing the woman, Sanjay stabbed himself. Both were taken to hospital where doctors declared Lakshmi dead. Sanjay died during the treatment.

DCP (southwest) Surendra Kumar said Sanjay was arrested an year ago over allegations of harassment but got out on bail recently. The family, however, claimed Sanjay had been stalking Lakshmi for many years but police did not take any action.
