On Sunday evening,alumni of the St Stephens College gathered to reminisce about their college days. The college celebrated the 128th College Day with cultural programmes and a panel discussion.
Justice Manmohan Sarin,Lokayukta,National Capital Territory of Delhi,said the spirit of a Stephenanian does not mean studying together,but lighting a fire in the belly to pursue excellence. St Stephens gave unlimited freedom of discussion where questions were encouraged, he added.
On a lighter note,Salman Khurshid,lawyer and politician,joked about learning how to lose elections in college. I lost my first election in Stephens and since then have lost many, he said.
Gurmeet Singh,Proctor,Delhi University,Raja Randhir Singh,Vijay Chibber,George Abraham and Shahlaa Khan,Khurshid and Sarin were panellists during a discussion on St Stephens: Yesterday,Today and Tomorrow. Principal Reverend Valson Thampu said the discussion connected the past and the present,as alumni of various ages were on the panel. We are proud of the 128-year-old institute with a great name and stirring traditions, he said.
