Delhi Assembly Speaker Ram Niwas Goel Monday ‘invited’ Special Commissioner (Law & Order) Deepak Mishra to his office after several MLAs complained about being delayed by protests blocking the roads on October 20.
The BJP had carried out a large protest march outside Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal’s house at Civil Lines last week, blocking the road leading to the Vidhan Sabha. AAP MLAs had also raised the issue in the Assembly, urging the Speaker to bring in a House resolution that no protests should be held while the assembly is in session.
Goel said the Special Commissioner of Police (Law & Order) assured that such problems would not occur in future. The Speaker said he also discussed the issue of alleged attack on AAP MLAs Amanatullah Khan and Sarita Singh.
AAP MLAs Khan and Alka Lamba both questioned the BJP over the attack on Khan on the very day that BJP MLA O P Sharma had made a derogatory remark against Khan in the House. This led to another altercation between Sharma and AAP MLAs that was contained only after Goel intervened and said that he would personally look into the cases being probed by the police.
