South Delhi resto bar owners held for flouting liquor norms

As many as 100 people were detained,including 15 below the age of 25.

The owners of a resto bar in South Delhi’s Vasant Kunj area were arrested and booked under the Excise Act and charged with flouting government rules for serving alcohol after 1 am.

Five police personnel have been suspended for allowing the resto bar to function after closing hours.

Delhi Police conducted a raid at the resto bar in Kishangarh,Vasant Kunj at 2 am on Friday.

Police sources said the bar had displayed an invite to the party on its Facebook page.

As many as 100 people were detained,including 15 below the age of 25.

A medical examination was conducted and all of them were sent home after being counselled by a local NGO.

DCP (South) B S Jaiswal said,“The owners have been booked under Sections 188 of IPC,42 of Excise Act,28/112 of DP Act and 32/113 of DP Act. The DJ too has been booked.”

Five police personnel have been suspended and sent to the district lines.

Police claimed the club had been challaned twice for not displaying a valid licence.
