Two-way traffic was restored at Zamrudpur today,six days after a Metro mishap that claimed six lives at the spot.
While the road from Moolchand to Nehru Place was opened two days after the incident,traffic movement from Nehru Place towards Moolchand was restored this morning after the site was cleared,DMRC officials said.
The 72-metre damaged metallic launching girder has been almost completely removed from the site. The task of cutting the fallen concrete girder is expected to start after that.It is being supported by 16 trestles and pebble bags to ensure safety.
Meanwhile,Gammon India Limited,the contractors for the Metro stretch where the accident took place,today announced that it has set up an in-house inquiry committee to investigate the reasons for the collapse of pillar no 67.
The committee includes names like Padma Shree nuclear scientist V K Sharma,President (Operations),Gammon India Limited and S A Reddi,former Deputy Managing Director of Gammon India,a release said.
