Two alleged bootleggers, arrested with huge quantity of hooch, have been let off by a Delhi court as all that the police could produce before it were empty cans, leaving the court wondering where the liquor had vanished.

Metropolitan Magistrate Lovleen freed Madipur residents Seema and Sarita, caught allegedly with illicit liquor in 2005

and 2003 respectively,as the police failed to explain the disappearance of liquor from the cans seized from them.

“To my mind, chances of fabrication with case property cannot be ruled out…. The police have failed to give any plausible explanation for the loss of illicit liquor and, accordingly, accused must be granted benefit,” the court said.
