Moot court contest at DPS,RK Puram
The annual moot court competition ‘UKASE’ was held at DPS,RK Puram. Moot court is a competition in which students participate in the preparation,presentation and arguing selected cases. UKASE provided the students from eight participating schools,who showcased their talent in front of judges,practising High Court lawyers,Raghav Awasthi and Shalabh Gupta. The co-ordinator of the event was the head of the Sociology department at DPS,RK Puram,Rita Khanna.
The judge,Shalabh Gupta,shared a few words on the opportunities the legal sector has to offer and then announced the results. Vasant Valley School,Vasant Kunj,bagged the first prize. Mount Carmel,Dwarka,and KIIT World School,Pitampura,won the second and third prizes respectively.
Amity girls team wins cricket championship
For the first time,girls from Amity International School,Sector 46,Gurgaon,participated in the U-19 District Girls Cricket Championship and won it. Gauri Gaur of Class VI won the ‘Woman of the Match’ award. She has been selected to participate in the Haryana
U-19 Girls Cricket Championship to be held at Panipat. She enthralled the crowd with both her bowling and batting. She has also been selected to participate in the U-19 National Girls Cricket Championship. Amita Chauhan,chairperson,Amity schools,praised Gauri

declamation contest at springdales
The 17th Rahul Joshi Memorial Declamation Contest was held at Springdales School,Pusa Road. The event was graced by Major General Narender Singh,chairman,Springdales School,Pusa Road,members of the Joshi family,Rotary Club,Cama Place,teachers and students of prestigious schools of Delhi.
The judges were Smita Sharma Dabas,Bal Bharati School,Rohini,Jayshree Thapar,HR consultant,JRV Consultants,and Sameer Chopra,associate professor,LSR College. The team from Modern School,Vasant Vihar,was declared the winner and Ishan Dasgupta from The Mother’s International School was declared the best speaker. As a policy,the host school did not participate.
Investiture ceremony at Birla Vidya Niketan
On October 21,Birla Vidya Niketan held its investiture ceremony,where the new council members received the mantle of responsibilities from seniors. The council was sworn in and the newly appointed members pledged to serve with honour and take the school to greater heights. The outgoing secretary,in an emotional speech,urged the new council to uphold the highest standards of conduct and serve as examples of excellence. Principal Minakshi Kushwaha and vice-principal Desmond D’ Monte felicitated the new members.
Film by Modern girl makes it to fest
Fifteen students from Modern School,Vasant Vihar,participated in a year-long film-making event organised by INTACH,Delhi,in collaboration with OPEN FUTURES team,UK. The films are based on India’s diverse cultural heritage. One of the films,Delhi – A Heritage City,directed by Laira Aggarwal,has been shortlisted for the 18th International Children’s Film Festival to be held at Hyderabad this year. The films that have been selected will be presented in the specially curated non-competetive section ‘Children’s World’ that includes the most outstanding international children’s films produced in recent years.
Hillwoods academy organises Confluence
Confluence 2013,an inter-school event organised at Hillwoods Academy,provided a forum to students to display their artistic talents. The fest began with the lighting of the lamp by the head of the institution followed by a song by the junior choir group. Eminent personalities from different fields judged the events and praised the participants. The head of the institution and the judges gave away the trophies to winners.
Bal bharati School celebrates annual day
Bal Bharati Public School,Pitampura,celebrated its 29th Annual Day on October 20. Mohan Parasaran,Solicitor General of India,was the chief guest. Kiran Martin,founder and director of Asha Foundation,graced the occasion as the guest of honour. The lighting of the ceremonial lamp by the dignitaries along with rendition of Indian ragas and Western beats by students marked the beginning of the programme. Principal Meenu Goswami presented the annual report,which was followed by the prize distribution ceremony. The programme concluded with the vote of thanks by the vice-principal.
ASN students excel in taekwondo meet
Taekwondo champions of ASN Senior Secondary School,Mayur Vihar-I,participated in the CBSE North Zone-I Taekwondo Championship,which was held at Shishu Niketan Public School,Chandigarh,on October 18-20. The ASNites won in the U-19 category and were runners up in the U-14 category. The overall trophy was also bagged by ASN School. The gold and silver medal winners will further participate in the CBSE National Taekwondo Championship going to be held at Hyderabad on December 13-16.
Bal Bharati School hosts sports meet
Bal Bharati Public School,GRH Marg,hosted the 7th All India Inter-Unit Bal Bharati Sports Meet on October 24-26.
The opening ceremony was held at the school’s Pusa Road campus. The closing ceremony was held in the auditorium of the school on GRH Marg.
The dignitaries who attended the event included Sunil Valson,former national cricket player as the chief guest; president of CES and chairman of BBPS,GR,K K Khullar; L R Channa,chairman,sports council,CES; S K Bhattacharya,convenor,sports council,CES; members of the management; principals of different units of Bal Bharati Public School and institutions; executive members of the PTA and alumni association of the school.
Principal L V Sehgal proposed the vote of thanks and observed that teamwork among all units of Bal Bharati schools was responsible for the success of the meet. L R Channa declared the meet closed after the flags were handed over to BBPS,Dwarka and Manesar,the host schools for the 8th All India Inter-Unit Bal Bharati Sports Meet.
GTB excels in zonal competitions
Guru Tegh Bahadur 3rd Centenary Public School put up an impressive performance at the zonal competitions. Students participated in all cultural activities in the junior and senior levels. It provided them an opportunity to showcase their talent in diverse activities. In English declamation,Gunraj Singh of Class X bagged the first prize,Guneet Kaur (VIII-A) bagged the second prize and Akash (VIII-A) bagged the third prize. In Hindi poetry recitation,Gunraj Singh,Simranjeet Kaur (VIII-B) and Jaisleen Kaur (X-B) won prizes. Jaipreet Singh (VII-C) won the second prize in extempore speech. Madhurjeet Singh (VII-A) bagged the second prize in Hindi declamation.
Global experts visit GD Salwan School
GD Salwan Public School,Rajinder Nagar,welcomed a team of visitors from all over the world as a part of the Global Education Leaders’ Program,which took place in New Delhi.
Every six months,GELP jurisdictions meet to share practices,goals and challenges as they lead transformation in their education systems.
The visitors were welcomed in a traditional manner with garlands and tilak was applied on their foreheads. They were appraised of the best practices in the school and the facilities available to students. Principal Vijay Laxmi Singh said the world had become a small community now and such visits were a great source of inspiration to learn about global issues.
RD Rajpal students excel in sports meet
Yash Yadav of Class X and Sristhi Solanki of Class IX of RD Rajpal School,Dwarka,have been selected for national-level events to be held on December 18 at SunBeam School,Varanasi,after their brilliant performance at the CBSE Athletic Meet Cluster,2013-14,organised at St Xavier School,Shabadpur,Rohini,Sector-26. About 300 schools had participated in the prestigious event. Principal Alka Kshatriya praised the achievements of the budding sportspersons.
