Awarding a scholar badge is an honoured tradition of Delhi Public School,Mathura Road. Keeping up with this tradition,DPS Mathura Road organised the Annual Award Ceremony for classes XI-XII on 22 October 2013. The chief guest on the occasion was Lt Gen Zameer Uddin Shah. Following the invocation,the principal M I Hussain addressed the gathering.

Disha Grover,a faculty member who co-authored the NCERT text book for Class XI titled ‘Entrepreneurship’,and Harshit Anurag,a student who co-designed the cover of the text book,were felicitated.

Dr Amidas Goradia inter-school debate

The 11th Dr. Amidas Goradia National Debate in English was hosted by The Indian School on 12 November,2013. Debaters from 37 prominent schools of Delhi and the rest of India participated. Vineet Joshi,Chairman,Central Board of Secondary Education graced the occasion as chief guest.

The panel of judges included Ancy James (NDTV),Aakash Banerjee (Radio Mirchi),Shantanu Ray Chaudhari (Harper Collins Publishers) and Shreya Roy Chowdhury (The Times of India). Springdales School,Dhaula Kuan took the trophy. Modern School,Barakhamba Road was named runner- up. Best Interjector prize was taken by Chirag Malkhani of Bombay Scottish School. Best Speaker was Amogh Sood of Don Bosco School. Siddhanto Sen and Kriti Dang offered able competition but did not run for the prize as their school was the host.

Dhruv Rajgarhia Memorial debate

The 12th annual Dhruv Rajgarhia Memorial inter-school debate was organised on October 23,2013 at Delhi Public School,RK Puram. The debate is held annually in the memory of Dhruv Rajgarhia,a student of the school,who passed away eleven years ago. His passion for debating was the inspiration behind this event.

This annual debate was initiated by his grandfather K C Rajgarhia. Judges were Rajesh Mahapatra (executive editor of Hindustan Times),Mita Bose (Vice Principal of Indraprastha College) and Vinita Sethi (Asst Secy Gen,FICCI). Principal Dr DR Saini,KC Rajgarhia,Rajesh Mahapatra,Vinita Sethi and programme coordinator Anuradha Dang distributed the prizes.

Red Roses Public School goes green

Eco club of Red Roses Public School ,Saket joined in the event “Dialogue on Green Delhi” organized by The Times of India in collaboration with GAIL,from 31st October to 1st November at India International Centre. Principal Anuradha Mehta was invited as one of the educationists to speak for the cause.

Emphasising on the need of the hour,she narrated the initiatives taken under the aegis of the Eco Club. The session was followed by painting competition and sapling plantation programme on the next day on the school premises. The guest of honour was S D Sharma,CEO,Delhi parks and garden society.

Founders’ Day at Amity Intl School

The gratitude and affection of the whole school was so apparent as AIS 46 celebrated the birthday of their founder president Dr Ashok Chauhan. the chairperson Dr Amita Chauhan graced the occasion and was delighted by the programmes put up. The winners of the Inter Amity Commerce Olympiad received prizes from the chairperson. The overall trophy for class XI and XII was won by AIS 46.

St Mark’s,Meera Bagh,gets gold award

St Mark’s School,Meera Bagh won the Asia Europe Foundation ClassNet Gold Award for its project ‘iMagz-Making Myself Heard’. The award is in recognition to the excellent global collaboration and innovative idea and exemplary use of ICT skills.  It was presented to the school at the 11th ASEF ClassNet Conference held in Bali,Indonesia.  The award was collected by Geeta Rajan,the Global Coordinator of the school,and Mayank Sharma (class X).

Annual day at g d goenka school

G D Goenka Public School,Dwarka hosted a dazzling Annual Day for classes Nursery to III on 31st October,2013 with a lot of zest and exuberance. The chief guest for the evening was Dr Palash Sen,the lead singer of ‘Euphoria’ band and a musician par excellence. The event was graced by Sangeeta Singh,Chairperson of the school along with other dignitaries.

The programme commenced with the lamp lighting ceremony followed by Principal Meenakshi Bhakuni’s speech. Thereafter,the school choir enthralled the audience with a soulful rendition of the Invocation Song. The little dancers floored everyone with their invocation of Lord Ganesh through the invocation dance,‘Ganpati Vandana’.

The splendid programme saw its culmination with the vote of thanks proposed to the guests and the audience.

Grandparents’ Day at Modern School

The Nursery section of Modern school,Vasant Vihar celebrated Grandparents’ Day recently. The children showed their gratitude to their grandparents through poems,songs and dance.

Grandparents enjoyed the programme. This was followed by a carnival which offered a lot of creative activities,games,music and food. The grandparents walked around the fair with their grandchildren. Their active involvement with the children revealed the strong bonds in their relationships. The carnival ended with the little ones handing over souvenirs to their grandparents .
