The Supreme Court will on Monday hear a petition that has sought to restrain the government from taking steps to remove former Supreme Co-urt judge A K Ganguly as Chairman of West Bengal Human Rights Commission (WBHRC) in the wake of the sexual harassment allegations by a lawyer. The matter was mentioned before a Bench led by Chief Justice of India P Sathasivam, which agreed to hear it on January 6.

The plea has been filed by Delhi-based doctor M Padma Narayan Singh, who has sought quashing of the complaint on which a three-judge panel of apex court had indicted Ganguly for prima facie unwelcome sexual behaviour against the lawyer, who was at the relevant time interning with him.
