New video of AAP’s Satyendar Jain emerges: Party running ‘chaupal’ inside Tihar, says BJP; will answer with MCD results, replies Kejriwal

In the 1.17-minute purported clip, Jain is seen having a conversation with about three people inside his cell who leave as another man, allegedly the jail superintendent of jail number 7 where he is lodged, arrives.

According to officials, the man in the video was Superintendent Ajeet Kumar who was posted in jail no.7. Earlier this month, Kumar was suspended by Delhi Chief Secretary Naresh Kumar for allegedly giving special and VIP treatment to Jain.

Hitting out at AAP during a press conference, BJP MP Verma alleged, “AAP is running a chaupal (community gathering) inside the jail. Its minister Satyendar Jain is getting massages and food from lavish restaurants, and now in a new video, he is seen holding a meeting with the jail superintendent. The party has made a mockery of the Constitution.”

Demanding that Jain be removed from his post as a minister, he added, “This is the first time in the history of the country that a minister has been in jail for six months, with the court rejecting his bail, but his resignation has not been accepted yet. He is still a minister, that is why the jail superintendents are pandering to him inside the jail.”

Brandishing a copy of the jail manual, Verma further said, “According to Rule No 619 of the jail manual, food from outside is prohibited inside the jail, and if a doctor advises any food, according to Rule 364, it should be served in the dining room. A prisoner can’t eat inside his cell. Rule 443 also says that a doctor can go inside the jail at any time, but Manish Sisodia says the doctor is not allowed inside the jail following which a physiotherapist was sent.”

Calling the party “AAP ka Darbar Brashtachar”, BJP spokesperson Shehzad Poonawalla referred to another purported video of Jain and said: “He (Jain) is getting massage from a rapist in a POSCO case and the party called him a physiotherapist. Now, the minister is having a discussion with the jail superintendent. Kejriwal should sack Jain and apologise to the country.”

Slamming the BJP, Kejriwal said, “I don’t need to answer these questions. The people of Delhi will answer them on December 4. As the MCD elections are closing in, BJP will release more such videos. The fight is between 10 works of Kejriwal and 10 videos of the BJP. People will decide and give the answer on December 4.”
