Paramjit Singh Sarna was on Saturday unanimously re-elected as the president of the Delhi Sikh Gurudwara Prabhandhak Committee (SGPC) for the sixth time. Sarna’s name was proposed by former SGPC president Prahlad Singh Chador after the Shiromani Akali Dal (Badal) did not field any candidate against him. Sarna is presently chairman of the Shiromani Akali Dal (Delhi). Sarna named Bhajan Singh Walia as vice-president,Joginder Singh Guru Rakha as treasurer,Gurmeet Singh Shanti as general secretary and Kartar Singh Kochar as joint secretary.

Metro for East Delhi from today
The DMRC will start operations at the newly-constructed Yamuna Bank station on Sunday. Earlier scheduled for May 2,the extension of Metro Line 3 (Dwarka Sector 9-Indraprastha) up to Yamuna Bank was postponed due to the Lok Sabha elections. Even on Sunday,there will be no function,as the model code of conduct is still in force. To make it easily accessible to East Delhi residents,a new Metro Feeder Bus Service will be started from the new station to Mayur Vihar Phase-III. A parking for around 400 cars has also been constructed.
