Saket court shooting: Delhi’s law and order has collapsed, CM hits out at L-G

“Delhi Police comes under you, Mr Prime Minister,” he tweeted, asking whether the Delhi Police would probe the shooting incident properly and bring the guilty to book.

Alleging that law and order had collapsed, Kejriwal appealed to Saxena to stop “obstructing work of others” and refrain from doing “dirty politics”. “If you can’t handle law and order then you should resign. Delhi’s safety and security can’t be compromised with,” the CM tweeted.

He also demanded action against officials behind an alleged “Rs 350 crore scam”, as part of which funds disbursed to police under the union budget last year were allegedly siphoned off.

Echoing the CM, Delhi Minister Saurabh Bharadwaj said, “The courts are supposed to be a safe space for all citizens. The Saket district court is located in a posh locality in Delhi. There are strict instructions that a person entering court premises has to pass through the metal detector. How did a gun get inside?”

In his nearly one-year tenure so far, Bharadwaj alleged, one could not recall even a single instance of the L-G having visited any of the 175 police stations in Delhi despite being the person responsible for security in the city. While such is the city’s law and order situation, the L-G, Bharadwaj alleged, was used to spending the entire day trying to take credit for work done by the Delhi government.

The L-G House did not respond to calls seeking comment.
