Six more persons have been arrested in the East Delhi robbery case,in which two brothers were robbed of more than Rs 3 crore on June 20.
Police claimed to have recovered Rs 1 crore from the persons arrested on Sunday.
The accused have been identified as Harpreet alias Shammi,Arun Verma alias Bunty,Bijender,Dilshad,Laxman and Sukhdev Singh alias Bunty. Earlier,four accused had been arrested in the case and another Rs 1 crore was recovered from them.
On June 20,Rajesh and Ravi Kumar Goyal,who work for the same firm,were robbed of the cash they were carrying by the accused and their aides. The brothers were carrying more than Rs 3 crore,which belonged to their firm. At 9 am,their Wagon R was intercepted by the accused (near Shakarpur,East Delhi) who fled with the cash and the car, said Prabhakar,Deputy Commissioner of Police (East).
The stolen car was found abandoned in Geeta Colony the same day and Rs 25 lakh was found in it,Prabhakar added.
According to police,the accused were tipped off by the brothers driver,Arun Verma,about the large amount of cash they were carrying.
Verma knew that the brothers transported cash often. He shared vital details such as destination,routes,timings and frequency of their cash transfer with Gurdev,who then roped in the other accused, Prabhakar said.
After the robbery,the accused abandoned the WagonR and fled with the cash to different locations. They re-assembled at Loni in Ghaziabad at a house owned by Gurdevs family. There they distributed the looted amount among themselves and left, Prabhakar added.
Police are looking for two other accused Avinash and Guddu alias Sanjay.
