Four persons were arrested and a juvenile detained on Wednesday for the murder of two elderly women in Rohini,police said. The four were identified as Rajesh (25),Rusy (22),Ravinder (21) and Mahesh (20).
According to police,four were arrested from Rohini Sector 3 early on Wednesday,when they were on their way to commit another burglary in the area.
Police Commissioner Neeraj Kumar said the gang was involved in two burglary cases and police had recovered stolen items and blood stained clothes. One of our constables,Raj Kumar,received a tip-off about the gang,after which we arrested them, he said.
During investigation,police found that the gang had stabbed a resident of Rohini Sector 15 and fled with his cash and valuables.
On questioning,it was found that the gang leader,Rajesh lived in Mongolpuri and worked at a shoe factory. He was involved in three cases of burglary,police said. His accomplice Rusy had three cases registered against him under Arms Act. Rusy had been released from jail two months ago. Police said further investigation was on to check whether they were involved in other cases.
On Sunday night,Shanti Devi (65) and Rasham Rani (67) were murdered while resisting burglars at their residence. The murders took place within half an hour and the involvement of the same gang was ascertained when a stolen wallet from Devis residence was found in Ranis house, said B S Jaiswal,DCP (Outer).
Mahesh had committed a murder two years ago,but was let off as he was a minor.
