Delhi Police on Monday claimed to have arrested a gang of robbers who had earlier attacked and injured a patrolling constable in Safdarjung area of South Delhi. Police also claimed to have recovered the dagger from the robbers with which the constable was attacked.
South Delhi police arrested Mukesh,24,Santosh,25,Kaniyya,22,Chander Kishor,23,and Dheeraj Soni,21. Soni,according to police,was the receiver of stolen goods. A police officer said they had received a tip-off that the five were planning to loot the Raj Nagar petrol pump,which functions round-the-clock and is located at a secluded spot.
We raided the area where they were supposed to meet and arrested four of them, said DCP South Delhi,H G S Dhaliwal.
At the time of their arrest,the robbers were carrying a country-made firearm and a spring actuated knife. An iron rod was also recovered from them. Police have registered a case against them in Sarojini Nagar police station.
