A 27-year-old man was robbed of Rs 25 lakh by two bike-borne men in Southeast Delhi’s Amar Colony area. The complainant,identified as Keshav Dutt working as a field executive in Mohan Cooperative Estate,Badarpur,was on his way to deliver the cash to his boss’s residence in Chirag Enclave,Greater Kailash-1 when the incident happened.
In a complaint given to the police,Dutt said that on April 13,the accountant of the company,Jai Prakash,had asked him and one Brij Biharini Rana to go and collect a payment of Rs 25 lakh from a shop in Karol Bagh,West Delhi. “As directed,we left office in a WagonR around 4.15 pm to collect the payment. We put the cash in two different bags and put them in the back of the car,” his statement read.
Dutt then called Jai Prakash and asked him where the cash needed to be delivered. “Prakash told us to go to the boss’s residence and hand it over to him. When we reached Andrews Ganj and took a turn towards Greater Kailash,a motorcycle tried overtaking our car. When we slowed down,one of the bikers came to the driver’s side,took out a pistol and put it against my temple and asked us to stop,” Dutt said.
Meanwhile,two men on another motorcycle reached the spot,forcefully opened the car and took out the two bags of cash,he said.
A police officer said,“We have registered a case of robbery against the unidentified accused. It appears that the bikers were aware of the cash payment and were following the car. It was a well-planned robbery and we are investigating the matter.”
