Robbers assault woman with cricket bats,Rs 4 lakh looted

A housewife was assaulted by two men with cricket bats and her house robbed in Rohini Sector-3 on Tuesday.

A housewife was assaulted by two men with cricket bats and her house robbed in Rohini Sector-3 on Tuesday.

The police said two unknown assailants barged into a house armed with cricket bats,beat up the woman who was alone at home,and robbed around Rs 4 lakh at 11.30 am on Tuesday.

According to a senior police officer,the victim,Prema Gupta,40,was brutally assaulted and tied up. A neighbour called the PCR after he heard Gupta screaming.

Gupta was rushed to Jaipur Golden Hospital. Gupta’s son,Nitin Gupta told Newsline: “The motive was robbery and when my mother resisted and tried to raise an alarm,she was thrashed for almost two hours. The robbers then fled with Rs 4 to 5 lakh and jewellery.”

The Guptas said they did not suspect their domestic help. According to police,some young men had visited the house a few days ago,claiming that they had come for a survey and inquired about the family. The police suspect they could be involved A case has been registered.
