A 45-year-old builder and a doctor got into a scuffle near the Lodhi Colony police station on Saturday evening, after the latter’s car hit the builder’s car.
Police said the scuffle between the doctor, Yogender, and the builder, Vinod Bhagwal, began after the doctor’s car, driven by his minor son, hit the car Bhagwal was driving. When Bhagwal and his wife complained, Yogender allegedly punched the builder in his right eye and slapped his wife.
In their statement to police, Bhagwal said he was on his way home and driving through Barapullah flyover. Near JLN stadium, a Santro crashed into his vehicle from the left side. When Bagwal got down and stopped the car, he found that it was being driven by a minor.
“The Santro was being driven at a high speed. It hit my Fortuner from the left. I found a 17-year-old behind the wheel. A child was sitting beside him. I told the boy to call his father,” Bhagwal said.
Bhagwal told police that the boy’s father came and introduced himself as Yogender. “I told him that he could be booked for allowing a minor to drive the car. At this, he punched me in the right eye. When my wife tried to intervene, Yogender slapped her. I made a PCR call and also called my friend for help,” Bhagwal told police.
After police reached the spot, both parties were taken to Lodhi Colony police station.
“After both parties came to the police station, they wanted to make a compromise. But they started arguing. The builder, who was injured, went to the hospital to get a medical test. Based on his complaint, a case of rash driving, voluntarily causing hurt and molestation has been registered against Yogender. Investigation is on,” a senior police officer said.
