Retired school vice principal strangled in Delhi

Police are looking for three persons in the case, said sources, adding that it did not appear that entry into the house was by force.

A 76-year-old retired vice principal of a government school, Pratap Singh Dahiya, was strangled at his house in northwest Delhi’s Bharat Nagar area, said police Sunday.

Police are looking for three persons in the case, said sources, adding that it did not appear that entry into the house was by force.

Sources said Dahiya’s hands were tied behind his back and he was strangled with a rope. His wife went to their three sons in the US last year. Since then, he was living alone in the house in Satyawati Colony. His daughter lives in a locality nearby, the sources added.

DCP (northwest) Vijay Singh said, “The incident came to light at 9.28 am Sunday after police received a call of a theft from the victim’s residence. The call came from his domestic help. After reaching the house, police found his body from a store room on the ground floor.”
