A 65-year-old man was found dead in the swimming pool of a residential complex in ATS village,Sector 93,Noida,on Tuesday morning.
Senior police officers said Akhil Arora, lived in the same complex and was a regular at the swimming pool. He was pulled out by lifeguards after he was found unconscious in the pool.
This is the second such incident in the past month. In August,26-year-old Shivesh Bose,a resident of Sector 34,was found dead in the swimming pool of a private school he used to frequent.
According to police, the incident was reported around 7.30 am on Tuesday.
He regularly used the pool. On Tuesday morning, the lifeguard noticed that his head had gone under water. He was rushed to Kailash Hospital where he was declared dead on arrival, a senior police officer said.
Police said Arora was a regular swimmer but he had a heart condition. Prima facie,it seems he suffered a cardiac arrest while in the pool.
The body has been sent for post-mortem examination and further details are awaited. Arora was a manager of UCO Bank in Patel Nagar and took voluntary retirement in 2001. He was a regular swimmer and was doing the backstroke when he lost consciousness, the officer said.
Officials of the district administration said the swimming pool met all standard operating requirements. The pool had failed to comply with safety norms when a check was carried out in April, but after a notice was served, all requirements were met and a no-objection certificate was issued, Sanjay Chauhan,City Magistrate, said.
