Repolling in two New Delhi booths

The Election Commission on Monday ordered repolling at two polling stations in Kasturba Nagar,which falls in the New Delhi constituency.

The Election Commission on Monday ordered repolling at two polling stations in Kasturba Nagar,which falls in the New Delhi constituency. The voting will be held on May 13.

“We received complaints that in polling stations number 12 and 13,the polling officers allowed certain people to vote even though their names were not in the electoral rolls,” D K Mishra,Returning Officer of New Delhi constituency,said.

On investigation,the EC found that several people — 91 at booth number 12 and 141 at 13 — cast their votes despite their names being deleted from the rolls.

The Chief Electoral Officer (CEO) is investigating the incident. The polling officers at these booths are also under scrutiny. “We will know the details only after the investigation,” an official at the CEO’s office said.

This will be the second case of repolling in Delhi. On Sunday,repolling was held at two Chhatarpur polling stations in South Delhi.
