Delhi Red Fort Explosion Update: Atleast as eight people were dead and several others were injured after an explosion was reported outside Red Fort Metro Station on Monday. A high alert has been sounded in Delhi after the incident, and around seven fire tenders have been pressed into action.
The video shows people running amok following the blast. Plumes of smoke and flames are seen emitting from the spot.
The blast reportedly took place in a car outside the Lal Quila metro station. The nature of the explosion is not known yet. Delhi Police has restricted Entry/exit of Gate no. 1 & 4 at Lal Qila Metro Station. However, Metro services are running normal throughout the network, DMRC spokesperson said.
The Red Fort metro station falls on the road between Delhi Gate in Central Delhi to Kashmere Gate further north. It is opposite the road leading to Chandni Chowk and is around 1.5 kilometres from Jama Masjid. The Old Delhi Railway Station is around 2 kilometres away.
