The recording of Rajesh Talwars statement under Section 313 of Criminal Procedure Code ended on Thursday with Additional Sessions Judge Shyam Lal asking him 805 questions based on the accounts of 39 prosecution witnesses.
Rajesh and his wife Nupur Talwar are being tried for the murder of their daughter Aarushi and domestic help Hemraj in May 2008.
Soon after recording of statement concluded for Rajesh, the recording of Nupurs statement began with 177 questions put to her.
The questions put to Rajesh revolved around the testimony of A G L Kaul, the investigating officer in the case. In his statement,Rajesh told court that the re-recording of statements of witnesses, such as Dr Naresh Raj (who conducted the post-mortem examination on Hemraj),Rohit Kocchar (Talwars neighbour),and Dr Sunil Dohre(conducted post-mortem examination on Aarushi) was done based on coercion and connivance and for ulterior motives.
Rajesh also rejected Kauls contention that a golf club was used in the murder and said it was a false statement. He told court that the club in question was never sent for forensic examination by the CBI.
The first set of 177 questions put to Nupur were identical to the first 177 questions put to Rajesh. The process is expected to continue on Monday, the next date of hearing.
Members of the defence said other than a few exceptions,Nupurs answers will mainly mirror those of Rajesh.
