In what is suspected to be a case of road rage,a 21-year-old man was shot dead allegedly by two unidentified persons for not being allowed to overtake. The incident was reported from Vijay Vihar in Outer Delhi.
The man,identified as Sumit,was a resident of Budh Vihar. He worked as a property dealer and ran a business venture with his uncle.
Police said Sumit was returning home after attending a Dussehra fair when the incident took place.
According to a senior officer,the accused,who were in a Wagon R,hit Sumits bike from the back. They kept asking him to either drive faster or allow them to overtake. When Sumit was could not give them passage,the driver of the Wagon R accelerated and stopped Sumits bike. One of them got out of the car and pulled Sumit off his bike. A scuffle ensued,during which one of the two accused whipped out a pistol and opened fire,police said.
Sumit sustained two bullet injuries and reportedly died on the spot. Police said the accused put the body inside their car and tried to drive away. However,when they found that the tyres had got stuck in the muck,they dumped the body there and fled.
Police have registered a case of murder against unidentified person and are trying to trace the owner of the car. Sumits family has been informed about the incident and the body has been sent for a post-mortem examination.
