Property dealer shot at multiple times by bike-borne assailants in Delhi’s Shahdara

Coming back home from work, a 50-year-old property dealer was shot multiple times in Shahdara by three bike-borne assailants on Thursday night, police said.

The victim, identified as Jogendra Rathod, was sitting on the pillion of a bike when he was shot, officers said. The assailants, on two scooters, came from behind and fired multiple rounds at him, after which he fell off the bike, police said.

CCTV footage of the incident showed that Rathore was on his way home inside a lane full of houses, wearing a white shirt, when he was attacked. Three assailants on two scooters came from behind and fired multiple rounds at him, after which he fell off the bike, officers added.

The police said that they received a PCR call from the wife of Rathore, where she claimed that her husband had been shot. ā€œOn Thursday at 10:31 pm, a PCR call was received at Shahdara police station wherein the caller identified as Nisha informed that her husband was shot by someone and now her husband is being taken to a hospital… During enquiry, the victim was identified as Jogender Rathore,ā€ DCP (Shahdara) Prashant Priya Gautam said.

Rathore sustained three bullet injuries in his back and is currently stable, police said.

ā€œPrima facie, the reason appears to be an old rivalry as alleged by the victim. Further enquiry is going on and legal action is being taken,ā€ DCP Gautam said.
