A property dealer was killed and two others injured in a shootout near Crossing Republik township in Ghaziabad on Friday afternoon.
Police said Naresh Tyagi (40),a property dealer,was hit by five bullets and he died on the spot. Two others Pankaj Tyagi and Chandrashekhar Tyagi were injured in the firing.
Police said Chandrashekhar wanted to buy a plot of land and Naresh Tyagi was taking him to Shahberi to show him some plots there. They were accompanied by Pankaj Tyagi and Aadesh Tyagi.
The men were travelling in an Indica Vista,and when the car reached the Crossing Republik township near NH-24,four men on motorcycles stopped the car. When the men got out of the car,the four assailants started shooting at them, SS Yadav,Superintendent of Police(City),Ghaziabad,said.
Naresh ran into an under-construction shop in Panchsheel market,while the three others ran into bylanes to escape the shooting,police said.
Naresh Tyagi was the target of the attackers. They followed him into the shop and shot him several times. According to eyewitnesses,even Naresh fired a round at his assailants. The bullets were fired from country-made pistols, a police officer said.
Police said personal or professional enmity could be motive behind the attack.
On April 4,Naresh Tyagi had been involved in a brawl with two men over a rented accommodation.
A case had been registered after the brawl. We have registered another case after the shootout and investigations are underway. We will arrest the culprits soon, S S Yadav said.
