Keeping pace with other parties as Assembly elections draw closer,Chief Minister Sheila Dikshit met the residents welfare associations (RWAs) of Vasant Kunj,South Delhi,on Saturday. She also visited West Delhi to inaugurate a cancer hospital.
Dikshit assured Vasant Kunj RWAs that the colony is in line for rapid development,keeping in view future requirements. She said the government agencies would remain in touch with the residents to consider their suggestions.
The residents have sought construction of foot-overbridges,underpasses,public conveniences and gardens in Vasant Kunj.
In West Delhi,Dikshit inaugurated Park Cancer Hospital in Meera Enclave and underlined the need for coordination between government and private sectors to ensure affordable cancer treatment of residents of the national capital. She noted that cancer is a leading cause of death across the world.

Dikshit will also be inaugurating colony-level gymnasiums in New Delhi Municipal Council areas on Sunday. The gyms will be inaugurated in Dikshits Assembly area (Lal Bahadur Sadan,Gole Market),Palika Milan,Moti Bagh,Charak Palika staff quarters and Palika Niketan in RK Puram.
On March 16,Dikshit had inaugurated six colony-level gymnasiums in NDMC areas. On the request of various RWAs of New Delhi area,gymnasiums have been constructed in Sarojini Vihar (Sarojini Nagar),CWC (Sarojini Nagar),Palika Awas (Sarojini Nagar),Palika Gram (Laxmibai Nagar),Aliganj and Palika Kunj (Karbala), a senior official of NDMC said.
