A day after Newsline reported about the unnatural number of voters from a single address in Khayala village in West Delhi, the State Election Commission ordered an inquiry into the case. The District Commissioner (West) has been asked to check the authenticity of voters from the addresses published.
One of the houses, where there are around 80 voters,is in the name of MLA Dayanand Chandila, whose daughter-in-law,Meenakshi Chandila,is contesting the elections for Congress on Sunday.
Rakesh Mehta, state election commissioner, said,We have sent a letter to the Chief Electoral Officer to inquire into the case. Presiding officers have been asked to strigently check every voters election identity card, before allowing them to cast their vote.
