A 32-year-old scientist from the Indian Agricultural Research Institute (IARI) allegedly committed suicide by hanging herself inside her residence Thursday morning.
According to sources, police have recovered a suicide note in which the woman, identified as Puja Rai, said that no one was responsible for her death.
On Thursday morning, Puja’s mother and brother tried to get in touch with her but could not do so. They informed institute authorities, who alerted police.
Police officials broke down the front door of the apartment and found Puja’s body hanging from a ceiling fan, said sources.
Puja’s husband Sumit Kumar was not at home at the time of the incident, said police. Her body has been sent to the city civil hospital for post-mortem examination to ascertain the exact cause of death.
