The Delhi High Court on Friday issued notice to the Delhi Metro Rail Corporation (DMRC) on a plea filed by a resident of Aya Nagar to change the name of the metro station in the area from Arjangarh to Aya Nagar.
The bench of Chief Justice G Rohini and Justice Jayant Nath issued a notice and sought the response of the DMRC and the Delhi government by September 9 on the plea, which claimed that the current name of the station was “causing chaos and confusion” for commuters.
Filed by Aya Nagar resident Ved Pal, the plea said residents of the area had filed several representations to change the name of the station.
The plea also said RTI queries had revealed that a committee formed by the Delhi government had accepted the demand and recommended that the name should be changed. However, Arjangarh Metro station was not on the list of stations recommended for name change.
Meanwhile, the Delhi Metro has placed a 60 m-long pre-fabricated steel bridge below its existing elevated concrete viaduct at Rajouri Garden.
