His father Ramesh and other relatives stood anxiously outside the Chanakyapuri police station. “They just took him to a separate area of the police station. We don’t know what happened,” Ramesh told The Indian Express, while constantly checking YouTube to check the news of the accident involving his son.

Ramesh said Ashish went out Saturday evening with some friends after celebrating Raksha Bandhan, and the Thar vehicle belonged to one of his son’s friends.

Ramesh said his son left his job as a driver approximately six months ago and was contemplating registering as a Rapido driver. A police officer said liquor bottles were discovered in the Thar vehicle, and they are verifying whether Ashish was under the influence of alcohol. The injured person is receiving treatment at Ram Manohar Lohia Hospital, according to the police, while Ashish is being interrogated at the Chanakyapuri police station.
