In a fight between two groups of inmates in Bhondsi Jail, one inmate was killed and two seriously injured on Tuesday morning. One of the inmates died while being taken to the Civil Hospital, Gurgaon. The other two have been referred to Safdarjung hospital after their condition was reported to be critical.
According to police sources, the deceased Monu (26) had been arrested in a murder case in 2013 by Badshahpur police. Monu along with the other two injured, Kushalpal and Mukesh, had a tiff three days back with another group of inmates.
“Monu, a resident of Bhiwani, Haryana, was stabbed on the neck and chest with a spoon and some pieces of glass,” a senior police officer said.
According to police, 10 inmates attacked them. “On Tuesday morning at 7 am, when Monu, Kushalpal and Mukesh were sleeping in barrack No. 3, around 10 members of the other group attacked them,” the officer said.
Police sources said inmates who attacked them are members of a gang that operates in Rohtak.
Gurgaon police has registered an FIR against 15 inmates. “A case has been registered and we are investigating the matter,” Alok Mittal, Commissioner of Police, Gurgaon, said.
