Police arrested the prime suspect in the murder of an Indore-based student from Aligarh,Uttar Pradesh,on Friday. They claimed to have recovered a knife and the victim’s bloodstained clothes, besides valuables such as his ATM card and mobile phone, from his possession.

According to police,Rajesh Kumar (24) killed Anand Raut when he refused to hand over his ATM card to the accused. “Kumar took Raut to an isolated spot in Yamuna Khadar area and asked him to give his ATM card and money. When Raut refused,he stabbed him with a knife and escaped with his valuables,” said Joint Commissioner of Police (New Delhi Range) P Kamaraj.

Police said the accused had met Raut last week, while the two were travelling together in Malwa Express. The two were last spotted together by Mahesh, one of Raut’s friends,at the Ambedkar Dharamshala, where they stayed.
