One person was killed and two injured after a lift trolley came crashing down at an under-construction multi-storey residential complex in Noida on Monday.
According to police,Umesh Rai (42) died on the spot. Chandrashekhar (25) and Bablu (22) were injured. All three worked as labourers at the site.
Chandrashekhar (25) and Bablu taken to Shivalik Hospital. Rai was from Bihar,as is Bablu. Chandrashekhar is from Allahabad.
Police said the incident took place around 5.30 pm in Sector-78,Noida.
The cable holding the trolley snapped and the trolley came crashing down. Rai,who was inside the trolley,was crushed to death. The other two,who were working in a balcony on a floor below,were injured after a slab fell on them, a senior police officer investigating the case said.
Rais body was trapped in the debris and pulled out later. Bablu is critically injured and is admitted to the ICU, the senior officer said.
The residential complex,which belongs to a private company,Nimbus,was under construction for the past two years,and Ascent had been roped in to undertake the construction work.
No case has been registered yet and further investigation is in progress. As soon as the injured are in a stable condition,we will record their statement and register a case, the officer said.
