The Delhi Police Wednesday said they have arrested five more accused including two juveniles, in connection with the triple murder in central Delhi’s Old Rajinder Nagar. Seven people have been arrested in connection with the case so far.
Sanjay, a real estate dealer, was found murdered along with his wife and their son in their home Sunday.
During questioning, it was disclosed that the plan to murder Sanjay and his family was put together by his acquaintance Rajan Singh alias Abhishek, said police sources.
Rajan had met Sanjay in Tihar jail in 2013, where the latter was lodged in connection to a cheating case. Rajan had been sent to jail on charges of rape and murder.
Investigation revealed that after the murders, the accused stole cash worth Rs 29,500, some artificial jewelry and a mobile phone from the victims’ residence. Singh gave Rs 4,000 to each of the accused, said sources.
“After Rajan and Sanjay were released on bail, they kept in touch. Rajan tried his hand at dealing in real estate but incurred huge losses. Around the same time, Sanjay told him that he had made some money and was looking for a property to invest in,” said a senior police officer.
The arrested accused have been identified as Rajan Singh, Rajendra Singh, Sanjay Kumar, Harender, Ram Kishore and the two juveniles, said Deputy Commissioner of Police (Central) Paramaditya.
“While scanning the call detail records of Sanjay, police found phone calls from Rajan’s number. The same number was found to be in use in Old Rajinder Nagar on the day of the incident. Acting on a tip-off, Rajan and Rajendra were arrested,” said police sources.
Harender and Ram Kishore were arrested from their native village in Uttar Pradesh’s Bulandshahr and the others were nabbed from Delhi, said police sources.
