The entire system of odd-even road rationing scheme is based on trust, Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal said Friday, when asked whether parents who are going to pick their children up or returning after dropping them at school will be exempt from the scheme.
The road-rationing scheme, which was notified Friday, has the provision of exempting vehicles carrying children in school uniform. However, parent groups have been asking for clarity on it.
“We believe schools open before 8 am and parents will return home after dropping their kids by the time odd-even starts. At noon, if someone says he or she is going to pick their children up from school, we will go by trust, like in case of medical emergencies. The entire odd-even scheme is based on trust,” Kejriwal said.
Meanwhile, the Delhi High Court Friday directed the Delhi government to consider as representation three PILs filed against the odd-even scheme, which will be enforced from November 4-15. A bench of Chief Justice D N Patel and Justice C Hari Shankar asked the Delhi government to take a decision before November 5.
