Nuh locals hand over 5 men who ‘vandalised temple’ to cops
Villagers took the initiative, as per police, after continuous appeals by District Magistrate, Dhirendera Khadgata and SP Narendra Bijarniya to locals to identify the culprits and meetings with people from both communities.

Five men were arrested in Nuh’s Singar area on Sunday night after they were “handed over by villagers”, the Nuh police said. The men were arrested for allegedly vandalising a temple.
“Zubair, Salman, Ansar, Rafiq, and Abu Bakar were arrested after villagers handed them over. Among those who handed over the accused to police are former sarpanch Hanif, Altaf, Ibrahim Chaudhary, Tayyab, and others from Singar village. They went to the police in Bicchor station after the accused were allegedly involved in the vandalism of a temple in Punhana’s Singar village,” Nuh police spokesperson, Krishan Kumar, said in a statement.

Following the communal violence on July 31 in Nuh’s Nalhar village, a group of men attacked and allegedly vandalised a temple in Singar, police said.
“Bicchor police had registered a case against hundreds of people and identified the accused using CCTV footage. Since then, police have been conducting continuous search operations to apprehend the accused,” the statement added.

In addition to maintaining peace, law and order between the two communities, villagers have also been directed to assist in efforts to arrest the accused.
“The SP and DC have held meetings at the sub-division level with individuals from 262 villages,” the statement said.
