Days after Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath reviewed the progress of construction of the upcoming Noida International Airport in Jewar and inspected the site, officials on Monday said that no date has so far been proposed for its inauguration.

Chief Executive Officer of Yamuna Expressway Industrial Development Authority (YEIDA), Rakesh Singh, on Monday said that the Noida International Airport has also not yet received the aerodrome licence to begin the operations. He, however, added that the remaining work will be completed in two days.

“We are working at a fast pace so that the remaining work is completed on time. Some observations were noted regarding the formalities required to be completed for the aerodrome licence. We need to get multiple security clearances from several institutions and we are trying to finish it. The moment we get the aerodrome licence, the proceedings for the inauguration of the airport will begin,” said the CEO.

“We have not yet been communicated any date yet. The remaining work will finish in the next two days,” added Sinha.

Earlier on Thursday, the UP CM had chaired a high-level meeting at the airport’s boardroom that was also attended by Union Minister for Civil Aviation, Kinjarapu Rammohan Naidu. Yogi had directed officials to accelerate pending work, especially in the security domain.

“Coordination with Bureau of Civil Aviation Security (BCAS) and the Central Industrial Security Force (CISF) must be strengthened to ensure all safety norms are met promptly. This is one of the state’s most ambitious infrastructure projects. Any remaining work, particularly concerning security must be completed with speed and the highest standards of quality,” the CM had said during the meeting.

As per an official statement issued by the Noida administration, a detailed presentation on the project status, upcoming milestones and preparations for the inauguration was shared during the review.
