Three men allegedly barged into the house of a businessman in Sector 30 in Noida and robbed him of Rs 2.5 lakh at gunpoint in the early hours of Monday.

The incident came to light after Amardeep Singh, 62, informed the Noida police alleging that the three men came into his home at around 3.30 am on Monday, and robbed him. Later his wife, Parmindar Kaur, 60, lodged a First Information Report (FIR) with the Noida police under sections 309 (robbery) and 305 (theft) of Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS).

“We have interrogated around 12 men including the house helps and security guards working at their home but have not been able to reach a concrete conclusion yet,” said Ram Badan Singh, Deputy Commissioner of Police, Noida, adding an investigation is still ongoing.

Singh said they have formed eight teams to probe the matter and the facts will emerge.

In her complaint to the police, Kaur said that after the robbery, when the family attempted to raise alarm, the robbers threatened them with consequences and asked Singh to drop them off at Sector 142. “When robbers got into Singh’s car, his wife and daughter also sat in the vehicle fearing that they would harm Singh,” said Manish Kumar Mishra, Additional Deputy Commissioner of Police (ADCP), Noida.

However, Mishra said they have recovered multiple CCTV camera footage showing Singh driving the car and his wife seated in the front seat.

The police also said that in her complaint Kaur also raised suspicion on her security guard Awadh Bihari.

Kaur said Bihari sought some money from her a few days ago and she refused.

However, when Bihari was interrogated, he told the Noida police that three men barged into the home along with Kaur’s son, who reached home around 3.30 am. “It is not ascertained yet where Kaur’s son was returning home late at night,” said Mishra, adding that the statements of Kaur’s family and security guards are contradictory.
