A 35-year-old man was killed after the bike he was riding was hit by a speeding car being driven by a student of a private university.
Police said due to the impact of the collision, Veerender Singh’s bike got enmeshed into the student’s car. The bike and Singh were dragged by the car for nearly 150 metres.

Vijay Dhul, Deputy Superintendent of Police (Sector-20) said the car driver Samridhi Karan, who is a student of a private university in Noida, has been arrested under IPC Sections 279 (rash driving) and 304A (causing death by negligence).

Police said after the accident, Samridhi was medically examined and found to be under the influence of alcohol. She was on her way home in Geeta Colony, Delhi, when the accident took place.

“Samridhi was driving to Delhi from Film City. The accident took place around 12.30 pm outside Noida Sector 15A. Because of the impact, the bike got enmeshed into the car and was dragged for almost 150 metres. Singh, a resident of Nangla village in Greater Noida, was still on the bike and died on the spot due to the injuries,” a senior police officer said. Police have seized the Maruti Suzuki car along with the bike that Singh was driving.

Singh’s cousin Parveender Bhati alleged that the student tried to flee the spot after the collision. “She tried to flee, not realising that the bike was still stuck to her car. When she stopped, she was near the Noida police control room, where she was arrested,” Bhati said.
Bhati, who filed the FIR, said his cousin had gone to Harola for a festival and was dropping two of his friends — Nawab and Sonu — at the time of the accident. Nawab and Sonu have sustained minor injuries, he said.
