No plan to hike house tax: MCD

The Municipal Corporation of Delhi (MCD) has said it has no plans so far to further increase property or house tax or to re-categorise residential colonies,claiming the Municipal Valuation Committee (MVC) Report for the year is yet to be tabled before the civic body. The committee was constituted by the Delhi government to review property tax.

“MCD is not planning any tax hike. The valuation committee report is yet to be submitted to the Delhi Government and then the MCD.

“Besides,once the report comes to us,the official procedure is to make it public,asking for suggestions from residents over a one-month period,take those into account and then arrive at a decision,” MCD spokesperson Deep Mathur said.

Chief Secretary Rakesh Mehta,members of Delhi government and the MVC said the report was yet to be finalised and “tabled before the state government”.
