Gurgaon police has arrested the Nigerian national who was accused of raping an Afro-American teenaged girl last month. He had been absconding since then.
The accused, Eker David (22), was arrested on Thursday evening from IFFCO Chowk by the city police’s Crime Unit-II. Police have recovered a fake South African passport, a Nigerian driving licence, a Hyundai i10 car and Rs 2,000 from David.
According to police, they received a tip-off that a man, who looked similar to David, was spotted near IFFCO Chowk. A team arrived there and nabbed David. Police said after the alleged rape incident, David had been living in Bagdola, Dawrka.

Police also said the accused had been in constant touch with an ‘agent’ who was helping him to get a fake passport to flee the country.
On March 16, David had allegedly raped a 17-year-old US national at a guesthouse in Gurgaon. She had allegedly met David on a social networking site and two had become friends. According to police, David took the girl to the guesthouse in Sector 38, a few metres away from his residence in Sector 47, where he lived with his 10 months-pregnant wife.
However, the girl didn’t inform anyone about the abuse. On March 19, when the girl fell ill, her mother, who works as a senior executive with an IT firm, took her to AIIMS, Delhi. It was the hospital which informed police about the alleged sexual assault. Though the victim refused to file a complaint, police registered a case on account of her being a minor.
The accused was taken into one-day police custody on Friday and would be questioned about the fake passport recovered from him.
Police are also trying to trace the ‘agent’ who helped him get the fake passport.
