The Ministry of Home Affairs is all set to shift its critical security units, including the National Investigation Agency (NIA),to what used be the Commonwealth Games Organising Committee headquarters.

The MHA has already been issued allotment letters by the NDMC to move its critical internal security and police modernisation units to floors one to five of the building which is officially known as the New Delhi City Centre-II (NDCC-II).

A deposit amount, the two-month licence fee,has also been deposited by the MHA.

“The Ministry of Tourism wanted to rent floors six and seven of the building. An initial consent was also given to the ministry,” a source said.

The Ministry of Home Affairs has asked that floors six and seven be given to the NIA,which is currently operating from a shopping mall in Jasola.

Meanwhile, the fifth floor of the NDCC-II building still waits to be cleared by its earlier occupants, the CWG Organising Committee.
