The National Green Tribunal (NGT) issued notices to the Delhi Police Wednesday over a petition alleging that as much as Rs 232 crore in water bills have not yet been paid by the city police.
The NGT has also issued notices to the Delhi government, Delhi Jal Board (DJB) and the Delhi Pollution Control Committee (DPCC). The petition filed by Sanjay Kumar, through advocate Gaurav Bhansal, contained information from an RTI that Kumar had filed.
The application has sought that the Delhi police pay the pending water bills and the water cess. The application has also sought a response from the DJB regarding outstanding bills from other government agencies. The appeal states that through the RTI, he has found that an estimated 131 police stations across the city have large outstanding amounts.
