After assisting his father for six years, actor Jacky Bhagnani is ready to make his Bollywood debut

“I always wanted to act,but I could not muster up the courage to face the camera,” remarks debutant actor Jacky Bhagnani. Son of Bollywood producer Vashu Bhagnani,he will soon be seen in Kal Kissne Dekha,Vivek Sharma’s story on teenage love, that releases in May. The well-built Jacky comes across as coolly dishevelled, but lacks confidence despite his star kid status. “Three years ago I weighed 130 kg and my waistline was 44 inches. I wasn’t fat,I was obese. I worked out six days a week to shed the extra kilos. Only then could I regain my self-esteem and seriously consider a future in movies,” explains Jacky,24,who made a stopover at the Amity University campus in Delhi along with the cast of the film,Rishi Kapoor and debutantVaishali Desai.

In his first film Jacky romances his bubbly 20-something co-star Desai,(who has been a model for many popular brands). The storyline revolves around a young man who is looking to make it and falls for a rich spoilt brat. “While shooting for the film my vanity van went up in flames moments after I exited it,” says Jacky, recounting the most memorable moments of shooting. Jacky will be seen jumping from 730 feet in the air, bungee jumping and doing a variety of water stunts. The film has been shot at picturesque locations across Bangkok,Johannesburg,Cape Town and New Zealand.

Jacky got a break thanks to producer dad Vashu Bhagnani, but he quickly adds that he went through the grind to become an actor. “I enrolled in the Lee Strasburg Theatre Institute for a year and auditioned for my part,” says Jacky, who has worked as assistant producer with his father for six projects in the past. “I would have preferred that he joined production,” says the doting father.
