A Nepalese servant drugged a 50-year-old woman and her daughter-in-law in their house in Janakpuri in West Delhi on Wednesday and fled with cash and jewellery worth several lakhs. Renu Wadhwa and her daughter-in-law Charu (26) were alone in the house when Naveen mixed something in their meal and ransacked the house,the police said. The family had not verified the credentials of the servant,hired a month ago. The incident took place around 2 pm at E-2/153 in Janakpuri. Around 2.30 pm,a neighbour found the two women in an unconscious state.
We rushed them to the hospital and informed the police, Jatin said. The victims,admitted in Sehgal Nursing Home,are out of danger. Renus husband Vinod Wadhwa and sons were outat the time. The family has a business of bathroom fittings.
A case of theft has been registered by the West district police and a manhunt has been launched for the accused.
