Needed: Signs,safety on Expressway

District Commissioner Deepti Umashankar: “We have set yardsticks to ensure adherence to safety and security. Action will be initiated if recommended corrections are not made in time.”

SDM Gurgaon Shakti Singh: “The committee had earlier asked the developer to designate spots for ambulance and rescue vehicles to be stationed on Expressway. But we found DSC Ltd has tied up with Paras Hospital and calls for ambulances there. This causes unnecessary delay.

There should be two ambulance stationed at a quarter-length from both toll booths.”

Sachin Sharma,VP (Operations),Delhi-Gurgaon Superconnectivity Ltd (on behalf of DSC Ltd): “We have deployed 18 motorcycles,four patrolling vehicles and three recovery vans for safety reasons. Three ambulances also stationed at key locations. Each vehicle covers a specified area and reports to the section head.

“For smooth flow of traffic,the line of sight of all traffic lights is being improved and challans are being issued with the help of traffic police to two-wheelers plying on the main highway. Challans are also being issued to stop non-tag vehicles entering tag lanes; additional marshal have also been deployed.”

NHAI official (name withheld on request): “We have asked both Delhi and Haryana governments to notify the stretch to ban two-wheelers and slow-moving vehicles on the main carriageway. But we are not empowered to impose penalties. We have also begun putting up high medians and the task of building five foot-overbridges is underway. “We are also working out possibilities of constructing subways at either IFFCO Chowk or Rajiv Chowk.”
