Nearly 4 kg drugs found on Bhondsi Jail warden

A day after a warden of the Bhondsi Jail was arrested on charges of providing cellphones to inmates,police claimed to have found nearly 4 kg of drugs from his house during a raid on Monday.

A day after a warden of the Bhondsi Jail was arrested on charges of providing cellphones to inmates,police claimed to have found nearly 4 kg of drugs from his house during a raid on Monday.

Police said they had been monitoring jail warden Pawan Kumar for more than two months before he was arrested.

SHO of Bhondsi police station Arvind Dhaiya said around 3 kg and 650 grams of drugs were found at Kumar’s house.

“It was hidden in his bathroom. We found it after a thorough search of his place. We are interrogating him about his network and where he used to buy the drugs from,” said Dhaiya.

Kumar was also produced in a city court,which sent him to two days’ judicial custody.

Police said that Kumar is being questioned to ascertain the names of the inmates to whom he used to provide the mobile phones.

After he was confronted on Friday,Kumar had allegedly tried to first bribe the jail officials and then flushed the mobile phones down a toilet.
